It all Started without even a simple plan.
Like all great ideas, its started with just mere words. When I stated, “You know, I always wanted a woodshop.” Was met with the reply, “Why don’t you have a woodshop?” I said, “Well…I….(pause thinking for a moment) why don’t I have a woodshop?!”
That was the beginning of all of this in 2016. In a small 10’×10’ shed I began collecting all the free wood I could get a hold of after cleaning out the shed. With the added shopping at Harbor Freight and eventually the Home Depot (which I owe my soul to now, LOL). I began my adventures in woodworking. Relearning the skill and tools took sometime and I was not working with the “finest” quality I kept moving forward on my trade. During my time here the projects came to life that would soon define my signature light boxes, signs. hand painted crafts, and a coffee table made from crate wood. Years later, me and my family move to a new place that had a garage attached to the house. This made for a great and convenient workshop and home. Inside, I tackled projects such as the “family light box,” refinishing a dinning table and chairs, and the beginning of making clocks and home decor. With a load of Ryobi and tools from Harbor Freight. However, we began to outgrow the house and determined we need a place that had a yard and I could create in my own back yard.
Enter the new house complete with my own shed for the new work shop. The new shed was my own this time and fully owned by me. (Its nice to say you own something.) This shed was going to require some work. With the help of a friend we ran electrical all through the shed. I set it up for work and it was fine….until winter hit. After the cold winter I decide it was time to upgrade the shed to a workshop. Cutting and creating my of studded walls, sealing all the crack, then insulating, and sealing, the shop now work s better for those cold winter days. The tools were replace with better quality blades, and many of the Ryobi tools have been replace with DeWalt. This was the creation that brought many of my products today such as the first cutting boards, pens, and the 3D light boxes so many are fond of, and my best selling items, the pens. By 2023 the business was really rolling with crafts shows I was beginning to attend. Name getting out there, projects coming in and requests being made.
In 2024, I decided to try my hand at a store in the Johnstown Galleria. Although, short lived, it was a great experience for learning and trying to go a step further. In the end I came back home to continue while being with my family instead of away all the time. Today, I work solely in the woodshop creating new ideas to catch the attention of my customers and now moving forward in epoxy items and possibly counter tops (currently working on this.) Also, coming to life is a You Tube channel aimed to instructing and how items are made. Stay tuned and lets see where this goes for the future.
